Understanding the Initial CBN 24-hour Limit on Your Zap Account

Edited

New to Zap?  Every new account in Nigeria has a temporary 24-hour limit due to CBN regulations. It’s automatic and lifts on its own once the time is up.

⏱️  When Does the 24 Hours Start?

The 24-hour window begins the moment your account is created and your first-tier verification is complete.

💰  The Simple Rule

Within this window, you have a cumulative limit of ₦20,000 for inflows (receiving money) and a separate ₦20,000 limit for outflows (sending money/payments).These don’t affect each other. You can max out both separately—meaning you can receive ₦20,000 and send ₦20,000 within that first day.

What happens if you go over

Any transaction that pushes you past that ₦20,000 cumulative total will simply fail and be reversed to the source account.

Tips for the first day

  • Keep track of the total: You can make as many transactions as you want, as long as the total doesn't exceed ₦20,000.

  • Don't worry about settings: You don't need to do anything; the limit disappears automatically after 24 hours.

  • Transaction declined? It's most likely the 24-hour limit. Wait for the window to close, or keep future transfers within what's left of your ₦20,000.
